Kobe Manzo is a Multimedia Journalism from Lake Orion, Michigan. He anticipates graduating in May of 2024.

I decided to come to NMU because it gave me an opportunity to play sports at the level and pursue a degree in what I love. It also opened my eyes to so many different activities and interests that I would have never had the chance to partake in at my home town that are now available to me in Marquette.

In pursuing Multimedia Journalism, I hope to be around sports in any capacity that I can, whether it be reporting from behind a desk, on the field, or in the locker room. I found a major that utilizes my speaking and writing skills and allows me to deliver positive messages to others about the importance of sport and competition at all levels.

My professors in the Multimedia Journalism department have been able to help me grow my own podcast, Division 1 Rejects, by giving me constructive feedback and showing me ways to build my audience while creating engaging content for my listeners/viewers.

I am a member of the football team here at NMU and I have had the chance to work in the photo/video department of the marketing team for the last year. The most rewarding experience that I’ve had has been helping to film the Romeo and Juliet play for the theater department with the photo/video team, as they were unable to perform in front of an audience due to COVID.

My plans after graduation are to enter the workforce and to get a job in sports journalism covering local sporting events or becoming a team reporter at the college or professional level.

Reach out to someone that goes to school here! In my experience, people are more than willing to talk about their time at Northern and give you their genuine thoughts on what it’s like going to school in Marquette, the good and the bad.
