Megan Meyer

Communication Major from Green Bay, Wisconsin

Meet Megan Meyer, a Communication major from Green Bay, WI. Megan plans to graduate in 2029.

I discovered Northern through the Presidential Scholarship Competition and fell in love with the campus and community while competing. I love being outside and taking advantage of any opportunity, and I knew that Northern could offer me this and much more.

I chose a major in Communication because I like how applicable it is to my daily life, and I find the classes engaging. I chose Spanish as my minor because I have a passion for culture and believe it will be beneficial for my future career paths.

I found a sense of belonging at NMU by taking advantage of all opportunities that came my way. Trying out clubs that piqued my interest, joining intermurals, and being active outdoors.

I would tell someone considering NMU that this school offers amazing opportunities you will not find anywhere else. Whether it's watching Enduro races on Marquette Mountain or jumping off Black Rocks into Lake Superior, there are no other schools like Northern.

My time off campus exploring all that Marquette has to offer has been the best part of my experience here. I am a very outdoorsy person and have taken full advantage of Marquette's unique geography. Every season I've gotten outside; from swimming and mountain biking in the summer, scenic hikes and surfing in the fall, and snowboarding and ice skating in the winter, there is something for everyone.

I am involved in the Student Leader Fellowship Program and Superior Edge, as well as Spanish Club, PRSSA, Letters of Love, Apiculture Club, Snowboard and Ski, and Surf Club. The most rewarding experience for me is volunteering around the community and getting to know local Yoopers.
