PY 314 Early Literacy/Language Development 3 cr. Literacy and language are essential to everyday life and central to all learning. Through reading, listening, writing, and talking, children come to understand the world. This course describes the most recent theory and evidence of how young children's language and literacy develop. It will also suggest ways that the early childhood providers can help children become fluent, flexible, effective users of oral and written language.
