The Native American Education Certification program provides pre-service and in-service educators with an opportunity to increase their knowledge in the area of Native American education. These courses are offered by the NMU Center for Native American Studies (CNAS) at the undergraduate or graduate level.

A degree is not earned. Students earn a departmental certification which is noted on their transcript. Students also receive a letter of completion from the Center for Native American Studies upon completion of program requirements. Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in required courses, and must submit a digital portfolio of work associated with each course prior to receiving the note on their transcript and the letter of completion.
