Clinical Molecular Diagnostics

This course covers the theory and application of nucleic acid based technologies to detect and characterize inherited disorders, acquired genetic diseases, and infectious disease. The principles of PCR based methods, SDA, HDA, LCR, TMA, NASBA, LAMP, sequencing methods and microarray analysis are covered. The use of these technologies for the detection and characterization of human pathologies is emphasized with a focus on the selection of each for specific diseases in clinical settings.
