In this pre-advanced writing course, students will continue to develop their competence in writing various types of academic papers. Students will be provided with the necessary instruction to write 2-3 page academic essays in APA format that are well supported by correctly citing 1-2 sources. The course will also help students increase their grammatical accuracy which they will be expected to demonstrate through meaning in their own writing. In addition, students in this course will engage in the steps of the writing process, including drafting and revising. The course will prepare students for advanced level writing requirements such as exam essays by requiring timed writing activities on a bi-weekly basis to improve writing fluency. Students will collaborate with classmates to complete a variety of assignment types. Finally, students will improve their test-taking skills in order to successfully improve their scores on standardized language tests (i.e. TOEFL, IELTS).
