Students pursuing a certification in Portuguese must earn a minimum grade of ā€œCā€ in every language course.

*A degree is not earned. Students earn a certification which is noted on their transcript. Students also receive a certificate at the Language Certification Ceremony hosted by the Modern Languages and Literatures Department. Students must apply for certification at mll@nmu.edu the semester that they complete the requirements, in accordance with the following schedule:  November 1 for fall semester, April 1 for winter semester, and July 15 for a summer session.

** SN 101 and SN 102 are recommended before taking POR 110.
