Corey Utley
Economic Development Manager, Consumers Energy
Corey Utley is an Economic Development Manager with Consumers Energy. Corey joined the company in 2020 and is responsible for delivering the company’s economic development strategy. While maintaining best-in-class customer experience, the Economic Development team supported over $4.2 billion in new private investment and more than 5,500 new jobs in Consumers Energy’s service territory in 2022 alone.
Prior to joining Consumers Energy, Corey spent over a decade in politics and state government, including nearly five years in Governor Rick Snyder’s administration in a variety of roles, including Northern Michigan Advisor. She also held increasingly responsible business retention and expansion roles at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), managing various strategic statewide accounts across the State of Michigan. During her tenure at MEDC, Corey managed projects resulting in $49 million in new private investment and over 540 new jobs.
Corey previously served as a Governor’s appointee to the Michigan Public Service Commission, providing leadership to Michigan’s volunteer communities and guidance for federal funding programs. A native of Michigan, Corey holds a B.A. in Advertising from Michigan State University and is a fellow of the Michigan Political Leadership Program at Michigan State University’s Institute for Public Policy and Social Research.
