This year's common reader was As We Have Always Done: Indigenous Freedom Through Radical Resistance by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson.

- Held in the Hedgcock Atrium (outside Justice. Equity. Diversity. Inclusion. Hub)
- We had free pizza and refreshments for all
- Free books for NMU students while supplies lasted were given out at:

The author of award-winning book As We Have Always Done, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, will be on campus to speak at the UNITED Conference on March 17, 2025.

DCRP: Conversation about *Body Sovereignty*
The 2025 Diversity Common Reader Program is pleased to present a conversation about "Body Sovereignty" on Thur., February 7 at 6:00 pm ET.
Join Caroline LaPorte, (Native American Studies) and Andie Balenger (Graduate Student) as they discuss Chap. 7 of Leanne Simpson's 2017 award-winning book, As We Have Always Done.
The in-person conversation will take place in the Whitman Hall Commons and a Zoom link will be available for Global Campus students. This conversation is presented by the NMU Center for Native American Studies (CNAS).
Free copies of the book are available for NMU students. Pick one up at the Justice. Equity. Diversity. Inclusion. (J.E.D.I.) Hub (also known as the Office of Diversity & Inclusion) at room 3001 on the upper floor of Hedgcock. or the CNAS in Whitman Hall. Keep an eye out for more conversations throughout the semester.
