December Wellbeing Events for Students

Because as President Schuiling says, “We want our campus community to remain as healthy as possible heading into final exams, end-of-semester and holiday activities, commencement and the semester break,” several Wellbeing events designed to help students manage stress are being offered on campus this December.

December 1st WildPups and LIVE Breaks, 4-5:30pm, Lydia Olson Library

L.I.V.E. at NMU student organization will be hosting LIVE Breaks upstairs in the library in Room 311, so come by before or after you get a visit in with the Wildpups. LIVE Breaks are a way that you can incorporate LIVE into your life.  And LIVE means to LOVE (yourself), INCLUDE (others), VALUE (life) and ENGAGE (community).  December’s sessions will focus on LOVE (yourself) activities to practice taking care of yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually. Sessions will be facilitated by West End Suicide Prevention members, Amy Poirier and Glenn Wing.

December 8 Greek Council Presents WildCat Wellness, 7-9pm, Jamrich Hall, Room 1322

Wildcat Wellness is an event on campus that spreads awareness about mental health. Our goal is to teach students how to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. Our mission is to break the stigma of talking about mental health and let people know that they are not alone and it's okay to not be okay.

Speakers:

Deborahanne Reimer, LCPC, CADC, Abigail Wyche, the Assistant Vice President of Campus Wellbeing and David Mendez Cruz, NMU Student will present on stress, anxiety, and depression, the resources on campus, and personal experiences to help those along the way. The last half of the event will consist of a Q&A/Discussion.
