Northern Michigan University places a hold on a student’s registration, transcript request, or diploma when the student has not met conditions or obligations due the university. The following are reasons for a hold:

Academic:  A hold may be placed at the request of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research on the enrollment of a student for failure to maintain the required graduate grade point average.

Dean of Students Hold:  A hold may be placed by the Dean of Students Office on students who have unresolved or on-going disciplinary or behavioral issues.

Financial:  A hold may be placed by the Financial Services Office because of any financial obligation to the university.

Graduate Admissions/Registrar’s:  A hold may be placed by the College of Graduate Studies or Registrar on the enrollment of a student who fails to provide proof of college graduation or transcripts from previous colleges attended or other required document(s).

Registration:  A hold may be placed at the request of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research against the further enrollment of students conditionally admitted who fail to complete the admissions process or meet all of  their conditional admission requirements.
