What will you miss most about being an NMU student?
The thing I will miss most about being an NMU student is school! Academia is the love of my life, and I don't know what I will do without being enrolled in classes. The professors that I have had here are some of the best educators I have had thus far. I will miss this place dearly.
What were your favorite moments as an LLIS student?
Outside of the FLSA to Salamanca, my favorite moments of this program were the various events held by the Department during my time here: Españolandia, Mara Pastor’s guest reading/workshop, Marcelino Viera’s presentation on his research and more. My love for academia fuels the last two in that list: To hear the research/writing/poetry of someone in the field was an amazing experience. I hope for more events like these in the future for this program.
What was your favorite course that you took in the LLIS Dept?
SN 310 and 312 with Profe Arenillas. These courses were the perfect blend of my two fields of study: literature and Spanish. These classes really challenged me, and that is why I loved them so much. The literature and film that we studied in those classes were so fascinating, and Profe Arenillas manages to cover a lot of material in a single course. I would recommend this course to another student if they shared a similar passion for literature and a desire to better themselves in their speaking abilities. The 20-minute presentations required in her classes are daunting, but I am extremely proud of their outcome. Profe Arenillas knows what she is doing.
