Michael J. Roy
President of Northern Michigan University from 2003-2004
Biography:
Michael J. Roy grew up in a small town in central Illinois and earned a football scholarship at Eastern Montana College. He decided that it would be more advantageous to focus on college then football, so became involved in the student government there and began a contract teaching there immediately after graduating with his bachelor’s degree in business education. He went to Central Michigan University for his master’s of business administration degree and was hired to a full-time accounting position there. In 1978, he moved up to Marquette to begin his career in administration at Northern. He served as Assistant Vice President for Finance and Control and interim vice president before he assumed the interim president position between the presidencies of Judith Bailey and Les Wong.
