Navigating the Pandemic

What Northern Michigan University does to mitigate risk for COVID-19 spread has an impact on the Marquette community. Northern officials are meeting and collaborating regularly with the Marquette County Health Department and Upper Peninsula Health System to share resources, expertise and talent. COVID-19 Reporting Dashboard

Northern Michigan University has a digital dashboard that provides updated statistics on current and cumulative positive Covid-19 cases, quarantine/isolation counts and vaccination rates, along with Marquette County's weekly tallies and links to related resources.

Requirement of Facial Coverings

Masks are mandated in all non-private indoor locations on campus and in outdoor areas where social distancing cannot be practiced. 

Complimentary Face Coverings

NMU is providing two reusable face coverings to all students, faculty and staff at no cost. There will also be disposable masks available throughout campus in the event that someone forgets or loses theirs. The NMU Bookstore is also selling branded masks

Supporting Local Businesses

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, NMU launched the Wildcats Mean Business campaign as a means of raising up the businesses that support NMU events and programming.

Additionally, NMU has assembled NMU-branded COVID-19 related signage such as "Mask Required" and "6 feet apart" signage. These are available for any business to use free of charge. Signage requests can be submitted to
