Northern Michigan University United Conference; Community, Diversity, Dialogue

About UNITED

The UNITED Conference is Northern's day of diversity education. This conference is designed to bring both the NMU community and the greater Marquette community together to learn and dialogue around diversity, equity, & inclusion.

The 2024 UNITED Conference will take place at the Northern Center on Thursday, March 21. The theme is “Continue the Conversation.”

Wellbeing is the holistic concept encompassing biological, psychological, social, ecological, and spiritual dimensions of health. This year’s UNITED conference will be continuing the conversation about the intersections between wellbeing and diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will also continue the tradition of incorporating the Diversity Common Reader Program into UNITED’s events.

Our keynote speaker is Stefanie Foo, author of What My Bones Know, a memoir of healing from complex post traumatic stress. In addition, we are busy planning many speakers, panels, and workshops that we believe will be valuable for students, faculty, and staff.
