Advising for students interested in an architectural program that would be completed at another institution is done by select faculty in the School of Art and Design. Students would prepare for transfer to an architectural school by first building a strong academic foundation at Northern Michigan University.

Since the emphasis in pre-professional studies is on liberal arts, no more than 7 credits in nonacademic or technical areas can be applied toward the 60-credit requirement.
