History of astronomy; observational astronomy; basic science principles and how they relate to astronomy; the celestial sphere and coordinate systems; star charts; telescopes; formation and evolution of the solar system; planetary characteristics (internal structure, surfaces, atmospheres); and comets and asteroids. This course may not be taken for credit toward the physics major or minor.
