Indigenous Activism and Contemporary Cultural Expression

NAS 424 Indigenous Activism and Contemporary Cultural Expression 4 cr.

Students will investigate the relationship between indigenous artists and contemporary indigenous social justice movements in the United States and Canada through the analysis of indigenous art forms and representation as well as the skill and practice of creating visual rhetoric through beadwork.

Seminar in Multicultural Education

ED 452 Seminar in Multicultural Education 1 cr.

This seminar will approach multicultural and global perspectives within current school settings including curricular design and planning; instructional design, practice and evaluation; and teachers’ and students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Field experience is a required component.  

Seminar in Classroom Management

ED 451 Seminar in Classroom Management 1 cr.

This seminar explores a variety of techniques and methods to effectively manage behavior in the classroom to decrease disruptions and increase instructional time. It focuses on the roles, responsibilities, issues, and concerns of student teachers, teachers and school personnel as active managers of student behavior. Field experience is a required component.  

Freshman Seminar 2

UN 110 Freshman Seminar 2 2 cr.

Focuses on strengthening the foundational skills developed in UN 100B; skills that are necessary for continued academic success at the college level. The course will enhance students’ oral and written communication skills, augment involvement in the academic and career planning process, and strengthen self-awareness as a college student and community member.
