Client-Side Web Programming

CS 365 Client-Side Web Programming 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course covers how to develop websites, with an emphasis on web applications. Current client-side frameworks and/or libraries are used. The focus of this course is mainly on  client-side technologies, although server-side technologies may be introduced as well.

Android Programming

CS 345 Android Programming 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course teaches how to program the Android operating system using Java. Topics include developing competence with the Android design tools, basic application writing, GUI creation, events and network programming.

Aqua Zumba

HP 273A Aqua Zumba 1 cr.  (0-0-2)

This course utilizes the aqua Zumba fitness program to enhance muscle tone and strength, cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, coordination, and stability. The Latin-inspired dance fitness movements are modified to be appropriate for the aquatic environment. Zumba is fused with the basic principles of aqua aerobics in a workout that is easy to follow yet challenging for people of various fitness abilities. Emphasis is placed on learning appropriate exercise techniques as well as general fitness principles to enhance the students’ well-being and improve overall performance.

Zumba

HP 273 Zumba 1 cr.  (0-0-1)

This course utilizes the Zumba fitness program to enhance muscle tone and strength, cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, coordination, and stability. This Latin-inspired dance fitness class incorporates a wide variety of music and dance rhythms. The movements can be modified for all fitness and ability levels and participants learn to adjust the intensity to fit individual needs. Emphasis is placed on learning appropriate exercise techniques as well as general fitness principles to enhance the students’ well-being.

Snowboarding-Intermediate

HP 263B Snowboarding-Intermediate 1 cr.

Intermediate snowboarding introduces the student to dynamic carving which is a necessary skill for a rider to feel confident turning (carving) down both groomed blue and black runs. HP 263 is a prerequisite and your instructor will expect a high level of participation and determination on your part to learn these new skills. Both subjective and objective criteria will be applied when determining your level of achievement.

Zumba Gold

HP 093 Zumba Gold 1 cr.  (0-0-2)

Zumba gold is a program designed to enhance muscle tone and strength, coordination, cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, and stability for the active older participant. The Zumba fitness program is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements. The movements can be modified to be appropriate for all fitness and ability levels, and intensity can be adjusted to fit individual needs.

Dance Management

DAN 404 Dance Management 2 cr.

This course will examine the non-performance side of dance including: dance studios, dance companies, and non-profit organizations. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the requirements and roles of each of these branches of dance business through class readings, discussions and research. Culminating project will include a written proposal and presentation for a fictional version of one of the three venues explored.

Creative Composition

DAN 308 Creative Composition 2 cr.

A practical experience focusing on the choreographer’s creative process for solo dances. Emphasis will be placed on identifying, selecting and utilizing a variety of source material through use of critical evaluation skills for dance, use of choreographic devices, use of improvisation for generating movement, creating meaning through the use of time, space, energy/force, and weight, and creation of a written personal artistic statement.

Dance Improvisation

DAN 304 Dance Improvisation 1 cr.

Exploration of movement through spontaneous problem-solving. The course is designed to evoke the student’s creative individuality and sense of ensemble. In this course students research and actualize theories of dance and the creative process. The course will combine dance techniques, improvisation techniques, contact work and research. This course is a multi-disciplinary approach to dance.
