Interdisciplinary Study in Global Healthcare - Latin America

NU 386 Interdisciplinary Study in Global Healthcare - Latin America 3 cr.  (0-0-6)

Provides students with an interdisciplinary cultural immersion experience in a service-learning setting. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the culture of a selected Latin American country with a particular focus on the health and health care of the country's residents.

Pharmacology II

This course builds upon a basic knowledge of pharmacology focusing on the application of pharmacological concepts to nursing care of patients with complex multi-system health problems. Use of evidence-based knowledge to provide safe, quality nursing care related to drug therapy is a major focus.

Nursing Care of Children/Adolescents (Clinic)

NU 332 Nursing Care of Children/Adolescents (Clinic) 2 cr.  (0-0-4) Students will develop and implement the theoretical concepts of NU 331. Opportunities are provided for students to develop and implement pediatric-specific skills in the laboratory setting as well as in-patient and community settings.

Nursing Care of Children/Adolescents (Theory)

NU 331 Nursing Care of Children/Adolescents (Theory) 3 cr.  (3-0-0)

Focus on the nursing care of children and family units ranging from infancy through adolescence. The information from AH 102 Growth and Development will be used as a basis for course content on the pediatric population. The foundations of pediatric care, including growth and development, family theory, anticipatory guidance and care of the child with simple and complex health care needs are presented.

Nursing Care of Women and the Perinatal Family (Clinic)

NU 322 Nursing Care of Women and the Perinatal Family (Clinic) 2 cr.  (0-0-4) Focus on the family unit during pregnancy. Physiological and psychosocial adaptations of the mother/baby following delivery are explored along with complications that may arise. This course also provides students with an opportunity to explore women’s health issues.

Nursing Care of Adults I (Clinic)

NU 302 Nursing Care of Adults I (Clinic) 6 cr.  (0-0-12) Clinical practice focusing on planning and implementing therapeutic nursing interventions in the care of the adult experiencing medical-surgical health needs. The nursing process is the organizing framework for the care provided.
