I fell in love with NMU because it gave me the feeling of being at a university, while also being a more close-knit community. I also liked the idea of being able to connect with professors more personally because of the smaller ratio of students to professors.

I know it's kind of cliché, but I went into nursing because I have always wanted to help people. I wanted to be able to help people through difficult times and be able to make a positive impact on their lives.

The coolest thing I have done so far was taking a phlebotomy class where we got to draw blood from actual people in the lab. Northern offers many amazing hands-on opportunities like this that make learning fun and exciting.

I currently hold a position in my sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, here on campus. It is an amazing group to be a part of because you have the opportunity to learn many life skills that can be applied after graduation. I have also made many great friends through the sorority. You can gain a great support system when you join a club or become involved in groups around campus.

I am hoping to become a pediatric oncology nurse or a traveling nurse after I graduate.

If you are considering NMU, make sure to come to visit the campus to meet the professors and the students. I was choosing between NMU and Hope college, but I ultimately chose NMU because I fell in love with it when I came for a visit.

The most rewarding experience that I have had so far has been working at the wildcat den. I have made so many amazing friends through working there. The work environment at the den feels very much like a family. We are all very supportive of one another and have amazing teamwork. I have also learned many important life skills while working there. While working there, I went from a shy employee that didn’t talk to anyone, to an employee that is friends with everyone. I can confidently say that the den has helped me grow into a better and more confidant person.
