Hannah Wenzel is a nursing major from Frankenmuth, Michigan. She anticipates graduating in May 2023.
Why did you decide to come to NMU?
I decided to come to NMU because of the welcoming atmosphere I experienced both on campus and in the city of Marquette, as well as because of all the new experiences I knew I could have lived here.
What's an example of a cool, interesting, or helpful thing that you have done as a part of your major?
The nursing students are involved with the campus covid testing, so it is an incredible feeling to be able to help keep campus safe.
What are you involved in within the university as well as outside of campus?
I am involved in the Student Nurses Association and work at the NMU Golf Course as well as the Campus Visit Program.
Outside of school, what do you enjoy?
Outside of school I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, and going to the local coffee shops.
What does “be Northern” mean to you?
"Be Northern" to me means being welcoming and open to new adventures and experiences.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to head into the field of nursing and plan to pursue travel nursing.
Advice for current students?
Put yourself out there and go to every event you can, especially during your first year. It is the best way to make great friends and memories.

NMU has given me opportunities I know I could not have experienced elsewhere. Whether it be in the classroom, or out exploring all Marquette has to offer, the experiences I have had in the supportive community here have helped me create the person I am today.
