How many students do you have attending Northern? What year are they/when did they graduate? What is/was their field of study?
One 2018 graduate in Media Production and a minor in music
Describe your student's experience in finding, selecting, and attending Northern. What was your involvement in this process?
My son found NMU at a college fair and that was the one and only school he was interested in. Coming up for a Wildcat Weekend sealed the deal for him and for us. NMU and the UP offered everything he wanted. The environment of NMU was everything a parent would want. He recently moved back to the Marquette area to work because he missed the UP.
Was it a difficult or easy decision for your student to attend NMU? What sealed the deal?
It was an easy decision. The cost was comparable to that of an in-state school with scholarships for my son.
What were your main concerns about your student attending Northern? How were those concerns addressed?
Just the distance. We were 7 1/2 hours away. Talking to students from the Chicago area let us know that the students would have the support they needed and I knew that he was on a safe campus.
