Charter School Events

When Burton Glen Charter School Academy was given the opportunity to have 12 students attend a presidential rally with Mitt Romney, they decided to ask their seventh grade social studies students to write an essay indicating why they would like to attend the rally.  Scott Rak, social studies teacher, assisted in the selection process of the best 12 essays.  Burton Glen was thankful to be able to give their students this wonderful opportunity and all who attended had a great time.

The Young Wildcat Scholars is an annual event bringing together sixth graders from all of the NMU charter schools.  The students and chaperones spend several days on campus taking academic classes and attending large group activities.  This college experience provides the students a better understanding of higher education and shows students what Northern Michigan University has to offer.  This program continues to grow in attendance, with an average of 200 students attending in 2013, 350 in 2014, and over 400 students attending in 2015 and again in 2016.
