NMU Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble return to Reynolds Recital Hall for their second concert of Winter '24 on Sunday, April 14. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. and admission is free for everyone.

The NMU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Professor James A. Strain, will present its annual winter semester concert on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., in Reynolds Recital Hall. The concert will be performed on standard percussion instruments such as drums, cymbals, gongs, marimbas, xylophones, bells, vibraphones, chimes and timpani, with one piece using only clapped hands! The music will include a variety of musical styles, such as contemporary chamber music, Japanese Taiko, and African drumming, as well as classical transcriptions of music from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Rossini’s Overture to “Italian in Algiers.” In addition, several students will perform short percussion solos. There is no admission charge, and the concert will be live-streamed by the NMU School of Music, Theater, and Dance Broadcasting Network (subscription required), which can be found at https://smtdbroadcasting.nmu.edu.

On Wednesday, March 27, the NMU Department of Music will hold its annual Music Performance Scholarship Competition. Several of NMU's music students will be performing a piece of their choice in Reynolds Recital Hall to vie for scholarship awards.
The competition begins at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall and admission is free for everyone.
NMU Orchestra's annual Children's Concert will be performed Wednesday, March 13! This concert will begin an hour earlier than normal at 6:30 p.m. and feature fun and adventurous songs that should be more familiar to our younger audience members.
