NMU will use Wednesday, November 8 as a day to applaud the efforts of first-gen students. We hope all first-gen students, faculty, and staff will gather with us at the Wildcat statue outside of Jamrich at 12:00 pm to honor the hard fought success of all first-gen students. Immediately following the 12:00 pm Wildcat photo, all in attendance are invited to join us for pizza, cookies, and games with prizes in the Hedgcock Atrium. 

If your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree, then you are considered a first generation college student. On average, about 35% of NMU students are first generation college students.

The NMU Food Pantry is beginning Fall Semester Open Hours on September 5th. The Food Pantry is open to any student, staff, or faculty member. We kindly ask students with full meal plans limit their usage of the pantry so we can better serve our off-campus population. If you have a need, the food pantry is for you! We offer a bag of groceries a week to anyone who needs a little extra help. You will walk in to a smiling face and a judgement free zone.

Food Pantry Hours:

• Monday: 1-6 PM
• Tuesday: 2 - 3:30 PM
• Thursday: 2-6 PM
• Friday: 12-4 PM
