NMU Kickoff – U.P. Folk Festival, Rhythm Bones Music Workshop

The Woods

Discover one of the world’s oldest percussion instruments during a hands-on rhythm bones workshop with U.P. musician Randy Seppala, aka “Da Bones Man.” Learn about the history and tradition of rhythm bones and get an introduction to playing this unique folk instrument. 

The workshop will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in The Woods, Classroom 104A, as part of NMU’s Investiture Week and the kickoff to the U.P. Folk Festival. 

The event is sponsored by the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center.

All students are welcome to Chat with President Brock Tessman, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Maple Hall classroom in The Woods Complex.  

President Tessman will give an overview of the current NMU construction projects, highlight possible new housing options coming to Northern, and discuss the three grand challenges of the new strategic plan.  A general question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Light refreshments will be available.
