Orange Shirt Day learning circles present opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to learn about Indian Boarding School experiences and about healing and justice for survivors and families.

The Learning Circles will also help participants prepare for NMU's Orange Shirt Day commemoration event on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. 

Learning Circles will be held from 6–8 p.m. on Sept. 9, 16, and 23 in the Whitman Hall Commons.

The French Program at NMU is inviting you to our annual French Baking Seminar! This year's seminar features 231 West Patisserie, which will give a presentation on the craft and process behind this iconic French
pastry. Learn how croissants are made—from the careful lamination of buttery dough to the baking techniques that create their signature flaky layers.

Following the presentation, attendees will have the chance to taste freshly made croissants and experience the results firsthand.

Whether you're a baking enthusiast, a curious foodie, or simply love a good pastry, join us for this free seminar about the art and science behind one of the world’s most beloved baked goods!

Curious about studying abroad? Join us for this semester's Planet Chat on Tuesday, March 31st, from 1-1:50 in the Whitman Commons! Students will share their experiences studying abroad in a variety of countries, including France, Finland, and Tanzania. Hear their stories, ask questions, and enjoy a few snacks & refreshments.

The NMU French Program Presents: A Free French Baking Seminar, featuring Lisette LaFave, BabyCakes Pastry Chef!
Chef Lisette will share her presentation on classic French baking, including her techniques in creating croissants, baguettes, macarons, and brioche! Samples will follow the presentation.
