On Tuesday, November 19, 2024 NMU will host a performance by the Superior String Alliance Chamber Players. Performers will include Adam Hall (cello), Dr. Theresa Camilli (piano), and Danielle Simandl (violin). The performance will take place at NMU’s Reynolds Recital Hall at noon on November 19. NMU students, staff, faculty and members of the Marquette community can pop-in for one piece during the noon hour or stay for the entire concert.  Adam, Theresa, and Danielle will perform Lucio Amanti's Jazz Suite, Leonard Bernstein's Three Meditations from Mass, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No. 1.  Admission is free. NMU's Open Mind Ensemble will have their Fall 2024 concert on November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall. Join us for a fun evening of experimental music! Admission is free for everyone.

About OM Ensemble:
Under the direction of Patrick Booth, OM (Open Mind) New Music Ensemble presents non-traditional experimental music performances.  The OM Ensemble’s adventurous programming offers listeners and performers a unique music experience. Performances feature conventional and unconventional composition techniques, improvisation, and interdisciplinary collaborations with visual artists, dancers, poets, etc.

Join us on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 7:30 PM at Reynolds Recital Hall for a performance by the Zodiac Trio, one of today’s premier clarinet-violin-piano ensembles. Known for their energetic and virtuosic concerts, the Zodiac Trio presents a unique blend of masterpieces, hidden gems, and captivating arrangements, along with occasional solo and duo performances.

The NMU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Professor James A. Strain, will present its annual fall semester concert on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., in Reynolds Recital Hall. The concert will be performed on standard percussion instruments such as marimbas, xylophones, bells, vibraphones, drums, cymbals, gongs, chimes and various ethnic instruments. The music will include a variety of musical styles, such as improvisatory African xylophone music, jazz, classical music transcriptions and arrangements of both Renaissance and twentieth century vocal music for marimba ensemble. In addition, several students will perform short percussion solos and small chamber ensemble music. There is no admission charge, and the concert will be live-streamed by the NMU School of Music, Theater, and Dance Broadcasting Network (subscription required), which can be found at https://smtdbroadcasting.nmu.edu.
