ABA 581 Behavior Analysis Practicum I 3 cr.  (3-0-0)

  • Prerequisites: Enrolled in the Applied Behavior Analysis graduate program, and a valid clear/cleared criminal background report on file with the university

The primary objective of this course is to deliver to students an experiential exposure to behavior analytic procedures and consulting practices.  This course is designed to meet the experience standards and supervisory requirements as stipulated by the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board (BACB).  This course will place emphasis on basic consultation and direct implementation.

Note: This course may be repeated for up to nine credit hours.

The primary objective of this course is to guide students through the process of conceptualizing, developing, and implementing research in the field of behavior analysis.

The student develops a thesis with the help of a thesis committee. Appropriate thesis forms must be completed prior to enrollment. The thesis must be approved by the thesis committee and the Office of Graduate Education and Research. ATR 499 Internship in Athletic Training 2-8 cr.

Designed for upper-level athletic training students who have completed a majority of program competencies and proficiencies and are ready to apply their skills in the field. This course is also appropriate for graduate-level students who are pursuing a career in the field of athletic training.

Professional experience for qualified graduate students working with accounting/other business firms/non-profit organizations/health care organizations/educational institutions. Written paper required; students evaluated by faculty supervisor in consultation with employer, and verification of hours worked. Counts as an elective in the business administration program and is required in the MBA with a concentration in Accounting program.

BUS 595 Special Topics in Business Management 1-4 cr.

Courses offering subject matter of timely and not necessarily enduring nature; special courses that take advantage of a faculty member or visiting lecturer’s current research or expertise. This class is available to provide students with unique learning opportunities.

BUS 598 Directed Studies in Business Administration 1-4 cr.

This class provides unique opportunities for individual students to concentrate on areas that are not ordinarily covered in the core classes or to delve more deeply into an area of interest introduced in a core class.

CJ 590 Policy Paper Research 1-4 cr.  (4-0-0)

  • Prerequisites: Admission to the master of science degree program in criminal justice.

Students write a formal research paper on a criminal justice policy of no less than 20 pages and submit it for grading to their three-person graduate faculty committee. The paper is designed to assess the student’s ability to conduct research and write at a master’s level. Furthermore, it will assess the student’s ability to describe the origins, development and implementation of a criminal justice policy and critically analyze its impact including intended and unintended consequences. The student will work with their committee chair to select a topic and prepare their paper.

CJ 599 Criminal Justice Thesis Research 1-4 cr.

  • Prerequisites: Admission to the master of science degree in criminal justice program and consent of instructor

Preparation of an extensive, original research and writing assignment under faculty supervision. Involves working with a thesis committee and formal defense of the thesis.

CLS 580 Project in Molecular Diagnostics 1-4 cr.

  • Prerequisites: CLS 570 and consent of the advisor

Student will complete a laboratory based molecular genetics project such as a verification and validation study, assay design and development, or clinical utility study that will incorporate the knowledge and analytical skills learned in the graduate program.  The project culminates in a written manuscript suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.  Selection of a study must be approved by the faculty advisor who will supervise the project.  Appropriate forms must be completed prior to enrollment.  The student should consult with the School of Clinical Sciences and the College of Graduate Studies for specific requirements.  CLS 580 is offered in increments of 1-4 credits and may be repeated as needed to obtain the 4 credits required for graduation.

CLS 590 Capstone in Clinical Applications of Genetic and Genomic Technologies 1-4 cr.

  • Prerequisites: Completion of a minimum of 23 credits of CLS 500 level courses or permission of Program Director.

Capstone course involving the evaluation of genetic and genomic technologies used in the diagnosis of inherited, acquired, and infectious disease. Students will be required to investigate and assess the strengths and weaknesses of genetic and genomic techniques using primary clinical research literature as an indicator of knowledge gained throughout the program and present findings in both an oral and written format. Students are required to pass a written program comprehensive examination modeled on a national certifying examination.

Independent research or study in the area of Computer Science is pursued by qualified students under the supervision of a member of the faculty within the Computer Science Committee of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.  Supervisor and research problem must be selected prior to enrollment in this course.  At the conclusion of the course, a written project must be submitted. This report must be approved by student’s graduate committee. The student should consult the Mathematics and Computer Science department and the College of Graduate Studies and Research for specific requirements.

At the conclusion of the course, a written thesis acceptable to the student's graduate committee and to the College of Graduate Studies must be filed in triplicate.  The student should consult the department and the College of Graduate Studies for specific requirements.
