According to the chart, does your taxable income (found on line 43 of the Federal Tax Form 1040 or Line 27 of the Federal Tax From 1040A or Line 6 of the Federal Tax Form 1040EZ) from last year fall at or below the amount listed for the number in your household?
Tips
  • Your taxable income is different from your gross income.
  • If you are a dependent student, you will need to look at your parent's taxable income, and the household size includes yourself, your parents, and all of your parent's dependents.
  • If you are an independent student, the household size includes yourself, plus any other people in your household, like a spouse or children residing with you.
