NMU Women's soccer team celebrating at GLIAC championship game

Women's Soccer Makes History

The NMU women's soccer team was crowned GLIAC regular season champions after defeating the Michigan Tech Huskies on November 4 by a decision of 1-0, marking the first time in program history that the Wildcats finished the regular season atop the GLIAC table. The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 13-1-4 overall record, a 9-1-4 conference record, and continued a dominant streak of matches without a loss at home with a 6-0-3 home record (18-0-6 the last 24 home matches). The 13 wins this year tied the second-most overall wins record, and the nine conference wins are one win away from tying the record of 10.

Head coach Jon Sandoval moved up in the record book this season as well, as he became the second-most winningest coach in program history after a 2-0 win at Davenport on October 13 gave him 40 career wins as head coach. Jon now sits with a 45-15-11 overall record over four seasons as a head coach, along with an astounding 32-1-5 record at home.
