Public Safety Notification for Special Events Policy
Purpose:
To provide safety to the general public during special events.
Policy:
When special events are scheduled on campus, the sponsor should notify the Chief of Police, NMU Police Department. Arrangements for crowd control and traffic control will be made by the Chief of Police or designee. Overtime expenses will be billed to the sponsor, as appropriate.
Regularly scheduled athletic events will be staffed by officers from the NMU Police Department for security, parking, traffic, crowd control and banking deposits. Staffing for these events will be set by the Chief of Police or designee, in accordance with athletic conference requirements or existing contracts. Special athletic events will be billed to the sponsoring department or group.
