General Education - Foundations of Social Sciences

Students take a minimum of six credits from this division. Students completing these courses should be able to recognize and understand the principles of the scientific method as it applies to the social sciences and the study of the social universe; comprehend commonalities and differences among various social science disciplines; and demonstrate an understanding of the role of social science theories and perspectives in investigating and explaining social phenomena. They should also be able to distinguish between knowledge supported by social science scholarship and common sense assumptions and similar forms of conventional wisdom and express an understanding of ones place in societies culture, history and political and economic systems. All courses are four credits unless otherwise noted.

HON 211 is open to honors program students only.
