Experimental Analysis of Behavior

ABA 205 Experimental Analysis of Behavior 4 cr.  (3-0-2)

This course is designed to provide background and information on the science of behavior. It covers a wide range of topics within behavior analysis including basic principles such as contingencies of reinforcement and punishment and functions of behavior, as well as respondent and operant conditioning. The course also examines how basic behavior research can be conducted and implemented/consumed in applied settings.

Graduate Assessment for Psychology Majors

PSY 489 Graduate Assessment for Psychology Majors 0 cr.

All graduating students must take the psychology exam as part of the Department of Psychological Science’s outcomes assessment effort. The two hour test will be given at multiple times during each semester.

Psychological Assessment

PSY 440 Psychological Assessment 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Advanced examination of the variety of mental health psychology patterns of disordered or dysfunctional behavior and the procedures through which they may be understood and assessed. Course will include relevant theory in psychological assessment, basic principles of psychometrics, and practical applications of psychological assessment.

Psychology of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Culture

PSY 420 Psychology of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Culture 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course explores the influences of race, ethnicity, gender, and culture on emotion, thoughts, and behavior.  Self-perception, judgements of others, human behavior, and how we interpret the social behavior of others will all be examined through psychological research.

Health Psychology

PSY 342 Health Psychology 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course examines the relationships of social, biological, behavior, and cognitive factors that affect physical and mental health. Topics include health promotion and illness prevention, medical treatment factors, stress and coping, psychosocial adjustment for serious health problems, and lifestyle factors.
