Meet Erica Rubick, a 2021 Alumna from Gladstone, Mi. Erica is currently is a 6th grade teacher at Lineville Intermediate in the Howard-Suamico school district.
Brief Description of What You Do
I teach English/Language Art and Social Studies to 6th graders
What at NMU helped you most in your current role?
My professors in the education program at NMU prepared me to become an educator, despite COVID. It was difficult trying to learn things through a computer screen, but my professors showed up and gave their all.
What advice would you give current students?
I would tell them to get to know their professors personally.
They should try to find their person who they can fully trust.
Make connections that last a lifetime. I met my best friend at NMU. We live over 100 miles away, but we still talk every day.
It’s okay to cry, we all did!
Are there personal interests and/or activities you care to share?
I loved getting coffee at literally any shop in town, lunch at the 906 sports bar, bagels from 3rd street, and getting to meet so many amazing people. I miss living in the beautiful city of Marquette. I loved going to hockey games as well, they were the best!
