Mary Hunt with another woman

Meet Mary K. Hunt, a 1988 Alumna from Oscoda, MI. Mary is currently Assistant Professor at Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, KY. Mary also works as an FNP in the ED at Genesis Healthcare System in Zanesville, OH.

I teach PMHNP students and work as an FNP in the ER. I recently received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award at FNU and wanted to share because had I not attended NMU and been accepted into the nursing program, this would never have been awarded to me.

Getting my BSN allowed me to further my education and obtain my MSN from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio and subsequently, my DNP from Frontier Nursing University. Obtaining my DNP has allowed me to become faculty teaching midwifery and NP students since 2011. Without my BSN, I wouldn’t have qualified for graduate school nor would I have been able to teach at the graduate level.

Work hard and get that degree. You never know where it will take you. Because of my undergrad degree, I am now Dr. Mary K. Hunt, DNP, CNM, ENP-BC, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC. Thank you NMU, I never anticipated moving beyond the bedside, you made my future dreams come true.

I enjoy participating in triathlons and long distance bike rides in my spare time.
