Meet Michael Clark, a 2002 BS Land Use Planning & Management alumnus from Escanaba, MI. Michael currently serves as the Community and Economic Development Director for Collierville Tennessee.

Current Role: As of August 5, 2024, I serve as the Community and Economic Development Director for Collierville Tennessee.

I oversee Land Use Planning, Zoning, GIS, Historic Preservation, Code Enforcement, Building Services, Engineering, and Economic Development for a growing suburban community of Memphis with a population of 55,000.

The programs at NMU go beyond theory and into practical application. This included attending professional meetings outside of classes and working along side practitioners working in the industries that teach by example.

Build and maintain connections with faculty, other students, and those who you are introduced to while at NMU. It is also important to get involved with programs and activities both in, and outside the department. Finally, take time to enjoy Marquette. The magic of the city and the nature around it are unprecedented.

I really enjoy watching hockey, history and historic preservation, and building furniture.
