Mitchell Foster

Meet Mitchell Foster, a 2011 alumnus (BS Political Science) from Big Rapids Mi. Mitchell currently lives in and is the city manager for Ludington, Mi. Previously, Mitchell was the Village Manager of Kingsley, Mi. and Village Administrator of Winneconne, WI.

In my present role as City Manager for the City of Ludington, I am the Chief Administrative Officer for the City, directing the day-to-day activities. I report directly to a City Council of seven (7) members and the Mayor while having a staff of 65. Additionally, I oversee a total budget of $20 million which includes Capital and Operational budgets.

Between my experience as a Resident Assistant in Gant Hall and the experiences in my State and Local Government class (thank you Dr. Haynes), I learned how to deal with people and gained my love of local government.

Explore different classes and activities to find things that you truly enjoy. Also, take advantage of all that Marquette offers as there are very few places like it in the world!

My wife Becky (NMU 2011) and I have two children (Otto 2, Elle 1) that we enjoy spending time with outside and on the golf course. I enjoy a good book, traveling, and attempting to find the best pizza an area has.
