NU 431 Nursing Care of Adults II (Theory) 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

Provides the theoretical foundation necessary to make critical decisions in planning and implementing therapeutic nursing interventions in the care of the complex or critically ill adult. The nursing process is the organizing framework for the discussion of each topic area.

Clinical practice focusing on critical decision making in planning and implementing therapeutic nursing interventions in the care of the complex or critically ill adult. The nursing process is the organizing framework for the care provided.
NU 441 Leadership and Management in Nursing (Theory) 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

  • Co-requisites: NU 001 Exit Exam, NU 421, NU 431/432 and NU 452.
  • Prerequisites: NU 401/402 and NU 411/412.
Roles and responsibilities related to leadership and management in nursing practice. Impact of management theories and processes on nursing practice and the delivery of health care within organizations.
NU 452 Transition into Professional Nursing Practice (Clinical) 3 cr.  (0-0-6)

  • Graded: S/U
  • Co-requisites: NU 421 and NU 441.
  • Prerequisites: NU 401, NU 402, NU 411, NU 412, NU 431 and NU 432.

This capstone course in an intensive clinical internship with a preceptor in a primary, secondary, or tertiary care setting will enhance the student’s transition into the professional nursing role. The student focuses on a selected area of practice within the current health care environment.

NU 454 Professional Nursing Practice (Clinical) 3 cr.  (0-0-6)
  • Offered: Fall Winter Summer
  • Prerequisites: Admission to the RN to BSN program, NU 311, NU 411, NU 414, NU 421, and NU 441.

This course will focus on applying and integrating knowledge gained in previous coursework within a primary, secondary or tertiary care setting allowing students to enhance the skills necessary to function in the professional role. The student focuses on a selected area of practice within the current health care environment.

NU 495 Special Topics in Nursing 1-4 cr.
  • Offered: Winter
  • Prerequisites: Junior standing and instructor permission.
Study of a particular topic reflecting the special interest of students and the instructor. Notes: May be repeated for credit if topic varies.
NU 498 Directed Study in Nursing 1-4 cr.
  • Offered: On Demand
  • Prerequisites: Junior standing and instructor and department head permission.
Independent study by qualified undergraduates in an area to be defined by the student and instructor.
