TH 432 Theatre and Entertainment Careers 1 cr.  (1-0-0)

Preparation of both performance and design/technology students for nation wide theatre auditions and interviews and how to find work in the theatre profession.

TH 435 Advanced Acting 2 cr.  (2-0-0)
  • Prerequisites: TH 330, or instructor approval.

This is an upper division acting class designed for cohorts in the Acting programs. The class will build upon skills learned in TH 330. Focus in the class is placed on the students developing acting in styles skills. Students will work in the acting styles of Classical drama (Greek), Restoration (Sheridan, Wycherley), and absurdism (Beckett, Pinter).

A study in advanced techniques and skills of a lighting designer for theatre and the entertainment industry. Students will create designs for extensive theatrical productions as well as designing for other industries to a professional standard.

A study in advanced techniques and skills of a scenic designer for theatre and the entertainment industry. Students will create designs for extensive theatrical productions as well as designing for other industries to a professional standard.

TH 442 Advanced Sound and Media Design 4 cr.  (4-0-4)

Advanced skills, software and techniques of a sound and media designer for theatre and the entertainment industry. Students are diving deeply into sound and media design for theatre and other relevant industries.

TH 443 Advanced Costume Design 4 cr.  (4-0-0)
  • Offered: On demand
  • Prerequisites: TH 243.

A study in advanced techniques and skills of a costume designer for theatre and the entertainment industry. Students will create designs for extensive theatrical productions as well as designing for other industries to a professional standard.

TH 453 Advanced Stage Management 4 cr.  (4-0-0)
  • Offered: Winter even years
  • Prerequisites: TH 253.

Expands on the topic of stage management and looks more in depth at the craft. Students expand on their communication skills to be effective stage managers covering topics such as non verbal communication, body language, and personality types. Students will also leave this course CPR certified.

TH 454 Advanced Shakespeare 2 cr.  (2-0-0)
  • Prerequisites: TH 132 or TH 134.

This is an upper division acting class designed for students in the Acting programs. Focus in the class is placed on the students developing acting skills in Shakespearean plays. 

TH 456 Entertainment Arts Management 4 cr.

  • Prerequisites: Junior standing and instructor permission.
Aims and objectives of theatre management including selection of a theatrical season, advertising and publicity, box office procedures and audience development. Stage management and production organization. Production management and the scheduling and coordination of the production process. Individual offerings will emphasize either facility/season management or production/stage management.
TH 480 Theatre and Entertainment Arts Capstone 1 cr.
  • Offered: Fall Winter On demand
  • Prerequisites: Completion of at least 36 credits in the Theatre major, and instructor approval.

An individually-designed project to be approved in advance by the theatre faculty, TH 480 will concentrate upon the preparation of a professional portfolio/employment presentation appropriate to the student’s area or areas of expertise. Project may culminate in a performance.

TH 491 Practicum in Theatre and Entertainment Arts 1 cr.  (1-0-0)
  • Offered: Fall Winter
  • Prerequisites: Instructor's permission.

Projects in production under the supervision of a faculty member.

Notes: May be repeated for a maximum of eight credits. For theatre and entertainment arts majors/minors this course must be taken four times for a total of four credits.
