This course covers the basic joining process used in metal fabrication industries. Students will gain knowledge of basic welding processes along with setting up welding equipment to make basic welds.

This course is designed to develop the expertise necessary for producing certification quality fillet welds in multiple positions (vertical-up, overhead, and horizontal). Emphasis is placed on SMAW, GMAW, and GS-FCAW welding in the horizontal, vertical-up, and overhead positions.

This course serves as an introduction to automatic and robotic welding and programing. This course will cover automatic and robotic safety, maintenance, and basic programing and operation.

An advanced course that includes shielded metal arc welding, (SMAW) gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas shielded flux cored arc welding (GS-FCAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). An emphasis is placed on preparing for AWS plate certification. Also includes an introduction to the aircarbon cutting and computer numeric control (CNC) process.

Students are introduced to the responsibilities and duties of the welding inspector and learn to interpret welding codes and specifications and evaluate weld discontinuities. They also learn the weldment testing methods applicable to the majority of construction and manufacturing fields.

This course provides lab assignments that provide students the opportunity to learn how to cut, prepare, fit, and perform acceptable welds in the 2, 5, and 6F/G positions on carbon steel pipe with the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process.

In this course, students will be introduced to the applicability of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) in the pipe welding industry. Students will be instructed in advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) techniques to prepare them for pipe welding certification. This course is also an introduction to pipefitting and the construction of piping systems.

This course introduces the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process (GTAW). Students will gain the knowledge and ability to produce quality welds on ferrous and non-ferrous material with the GTAW process.

This course expands upon WD 253 (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Students will continue to develop the knowledge and ability produce quality out-of-position welds on ferrous and non-ferrous material with the GTAW process.

In this course, students will learn advanced pipe welding techniques with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). Students will weld on exotic material such as chrome, inconel, stainless steels, and aluminum. Students will have the opportunity to take pipe welding qualification tests.

Designed to develop certification-level abilities on groove joints in multiple positions on multi-thickness materials. Emphasis on full penetration, single vee groove joints in the horizontal, vertical-up, overhead positions and on preparation for a variety of American Welding Society (AWS) Certifications.

This course covers metal fabrication principles and practices. Students will gain practical knowledge and experience through the identification, maintenance, setup, and use of precision measuring tools, power tools, hand tools, as well as forming, cutting, finishing, and joining equipment used in the fabrication industry.

- Prerequisites: WD 280.
This course expands upon WD 280 Introduction to Fabrication. Students will complete a large scale metal fabrication project while applying principles and practices learned in previous welding courses. This course applies advanced project planning, cost analysis, material selection, and project scheduling.
