The Customer Service Training was developed in response to many conversations with businesses throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, however, the training applies to any customer service oriented business. The business community saw a need for a Customer Service Training program that is affordable, self-paced, short-term, and comprehensive. We listened and in-house, developed a customer service training course for you. We believe the training will be beneficial to all who complete it.

Exceptional Customer Service does not come naturally, rather it is a learned skill. Exceptional Customer Service improves the company/customer relationship, and it increases employee satisfaction. Our intention is to offer a Customer Service Training course that builds awareness of the direct relationship between customer service skills and career achievement. By building strong customer service skills, employees enhance both their companies’ satisfaction and their own.

Customers may be internal or external and it behooves the individual to understand both in an effort to build a satisfying work environment. Our goal is for you to understand that YOU make the difference in how customers are received and whether they come back for more.

Our course will offer you practical principles that can be immediately applied to your job/career.

The training will include:

  • The 3-D’s: Defining Customer Service, Defining the Customer, and Defining YOU
  • Behaviors that engage customers
  • Creating a friendly environment
  • Preventing and repairing unhappy customer relationships
  • Using the customer service process effectively
  • Developing strong customer service skills
  • Leading customer service within your organization

The training takes approximately 8 hours to complete, some people have taken it in less time and some more time. You may start this course anytime, work at your own pace, log out of the course and come back to it and pick up where you left off. You have 30 days to complete the training. At the end of the training, you will have the opportunity to print a certificate of completion from Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Northern Michigan University for Customer Service Training. You may use the certificate for your employer or even to build your resume. There is a tutorial that will assist you in getting comfortable with the online environment here at NMU.
