The Green Fund

The Green Fund is a student-paid fee that funds sustainable student-led initiatives on campus. Any student can submit a proposal to improve sustainability at NMU! Please note that the Green Fund is not a grant. The budget for these initiatives are funded by students through a $5 optional fee each semester. This provides up to $50,000 each year for initiatives.

Every fall semester, students have the opportunity to submit Green Fund Proposals. These proposals are then reviewed by the Sustainability Advisory Council where they may have a chance to be approved and implemented on campus. Past approved Green Funds include pollinator houses, rain gardens, composting and more! This is an amazing opportunity for students to take their sustainable ideas and turn them into a reality on campus.

The Green Fund submission form will close on Friday 21 November 2025 at 11:59 PM.
