In conjunction with the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center’s current exhibition, “The Seventh Fire: A Decolonizing Experience,” the Center will be presenting a residency on the Métis fiddling tradition featuring Jamie Fox and her father Jim on guitar. Jamie Fox is a Métis fiddler of the Aaniih and Nakoda tribes of Montana. The Métis are members of ethnic groups native to Canada and parts of the United States that trace their descent to both Indigenous North Americans and European settlers. This residency is co-sponsored by the Hiawatha Music Co-op.

We, as Indigenous people stand united through our tribal individuality, symbolically wear our moccasins, honor our ancestors, and indigenous peoples worldwide, during Rock Your Mocs and National Native American Heritage Month

Established 2011, Rock Your Mocs, is a worldwide Native American & Indigenous Peoples social media event held annually and during National Native American Heritage Month in the U.S. A.. People wear their moccasins, take a photo/video/story, add hashtag #RockYourMocs and upload to social media. This creates an online photo album for the world to see and enjoy.

Where is RYM held? Where ever you may be and wherever your day takes you or there may be an event in your community
