Take the Library Survey to win prizes!

The Lydia M. Olson Library is asking students, faculty, staff, and the general public to participate in a library user satisfaction survey to help us serve you better.

Once the survey is completed, individuals will have a chance to be entered in a drawing and win a $100 Amazon gift card or one of several $20 Starbucks cards.

All responses to the survey will be held in confidence. No identifying
links between responses and the individual responding will be retained. Combined data only will be reported.

Take the 15-minute survey here: https://www.libqual.org/survey/RWSLJQP27U886X8HRA.

If you have any difficulty in accessing the survey or if you have questions, please contact library@nmu.edu.

Free Vaccine Card Lamination

NMU Logo on bricks

Lydia M. Olson Library

The Lydia M. Olson Library is offering a free service to help you preserve your COVID-19 vaccination record. After receiving your final shot (either the second Moderna/Pfizer shot or the single Johnson & Johnson shot), bring your vaccination card to Olson Library to make a laminated copy. We will copy your card and laminate the copy free of charge!

It is important to note that since it is unknown how the vaccination cards will be used in the future, including whether booster shots will be needed, we are not offering to laminate the original card.

Current NMU students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of this free service through August 20, 2021. We may open the service to other community members and/or extend the service in the future.

The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on the main floor of the Lydia M. Olson Library from 10:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30th.

While there has been a significant and encouraging response to the dire need for blood across the nation, the American Red Cross needs more people to give in the weeks ahead to recover from its worst blood shortage in more than a decade.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross employees have implemented added precautions to ensure blood drives and donation centers are safe for donors and staff.

AMERICANS AND THE HOLOCAUST—FILM SCREENING

The Lydia M. Olson Library was selected as one of 50 U.S. libraries to present the touring version of the Americans and the Holocaust special exhibition, which opened in April 2018 at the Museum in Washington, D.C., during the Museum’s 25th anniversary.

As part of the exhibition, we have partnered with the Peter White Public Library to show a 1994 film from PBS on Monday, October 17th. Join us in the Community Room of the Peter White Library at 7:30 p.m. for the film screening.

Film Description: "Weaving together interviews, official photos and documents, home movies, and archival film, this 90-minute film explores the complex social and political factors that shaped America's response to the Holocaust. The story of Kurt Klein, who struggled with State Department red tape to free his parents from Europe, represents America's reaction to European Jews clamoring for rescue."
