Department of Music

Join NMU piano students as they perform pieces by local piano students at the Piano Pedagogy Concert. 

The concert will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Women's Federated Clubhouse, 104 W. Ridge St. in Marquette. 

Friends, family, and piano enthusiasts are welcome to attend, and a light reception will follow the performance. 

Admission is free and open to the public.

Created by Maria Formolo and produced by TaMaMa Dance Company, Between Wind & Feather is a 40-minute meditative amalgamation of music, words and movement. 

Music is created and performed by Theresa Camilli and Carrie Biolo, with lighting design by Vic Holliday and sound production by Mark Shevy.

We invite you to breathe with us in this space as we create a realm separate from the space and time we inhabit daily. 

Between Wind & Feather will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at Reynolds Recital Hall.

The 2025 NMU Jazz Festival will be held on the beautiful campus of Northern Michigan University on Thursday and Friday, March 19-20.  High school and middle school jazz bands from throughout the region will participate in a variety of performances and clinics, and an exciting evening performance will showcase NMU students, faculty, and guest clinicians.

This year’s festival will feature The Westerlies, a New York-based brass quartet comprised of Riley Mulherkar and Chloe Rowlands on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Addison Maye-Saxon on trombone.  This cutting-edge ensemble is “an arty quartet…mixing ideas from jazz, new classical, and Appalachian folk” (New York Times). From Carnegie Hall to Coachella, The Westerlies navigate a wide array of venues and projects with the precision of a string quartet, the audacity of a rock band, and the charm of a family sing-along.
