Career Services and High-Impact Learning

Handshake is Career Services and High-Impact Learning's all-in-one web system for students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni. 

Students and alumni job seekers can:

• Search and apply for jobs 24/7
• Manage multiple resumes, cover letters, and other employment-related documents
• Sign up for job fairs, interviews, and other career events

Students access Handshake through: MyNMU > Handshake Tile> or Search Sidebar

Alumni access Handshake through: https://nmu.joinhandshake.com/

Faculty/staff can:

• Post on-campus jobs and internships (including Graduate Assistantships)
• Manage and receive applications online
• Register for job fairs and review employer attendees
• Search for available jobs with your students
• Refer employers interested in NMU students to Career Services to post and promote opportunities in Handshake

We currently have over 32,000 employers in Handshake and that’s steadily growing! If there's an employer you'd like to see in Handshake, please let us know and we can reach out to them!  If you know of an employer that you do not do business with (Title IX, Unethical practices, etc.), please also let us know. 

Career Services and High-Impact Learning

The Construction Management Career Fair provides an excellent opportunity for you to discuss full-time jobs, part-time jobs, internships, and summer employment with construction employers. Types of positions represented include Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Construction Managers, Estimators, Safety Specialists, Construction Management Interns, and more!

There is no cost for students or alumni to attend this fair.  

Remember to dress for success and have your resume ready! 

Win a prize!  Students/alumni who register in Handshake and also check in at the job fair will be placed into a drawing.  Ten winners will be selected and notified the day after the fair.

In conjunction with the Healthcare and Behavioral Sciences Career Fair, there will be a bonus recruiting event on the second floor of the Physical Education Instructional Facility (PEIF).  Majors included: Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Outdoor Recreation, Sports Science, Coaching, and more.

There is no cost for students or alumni to attend this fair.

Types of positions represented include Care Aides, Nurses, Medical Technicians, Social Workers, Phlebotomists, and more!
