Lucas Abromowitz

Senior Associate Director of Admissions - Transfer Recruitment Management

Hometown:

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada – about 2,000 miles southwest of Marquette.

Professional/Personal Biography:

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s in Criminology & Criminal Justice and from the University of Arizona with a Master’s in International Security. I began working in undergraduate admissions at my alma mater doing both recruitment and processing, and since then have worked in academic advising, been an instructor, moved to Ohio and was an assistant director of a transfer and orientation center, and now senior associate director for transfer recruitment at NMU.

Most Memorable College Experience:

College is full of a lot of impactful memories and experiences, however, my favorite experiences were studying abroad in Moscow, Russia twice. I love travel and world cultures, so getting a chance to go to Moscow was the opportunity of a lifetime.

Favorite Marquette Activity:

You will hear a lot about the outdoor activities in and around Marquette – what better place to do it?! But at the end of a day of play or if the outdoors isn’t your thing – exploring Marquette’s amazing culture and vibe indoors is full of prospect. There is a great food, coffee, and brewery scene in the city, small boutiques and art shops throughout downtown, access to larger stores in the city, and there is always a place on campus to find for study time if the weather is bad.

Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else entering college:

Never give up. Struggles and challenges are a part of the learning process. How boring would life be if it was always easy and you knew everything? Find how you best manage those challenges, seek out resources and support, and reach your goal.
