As a rural area, the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan is experiencing a shortage of credentialed professionals able to provide Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) services to the regional community.

In order to address this issue, Northern Michigan University's Behavioral Education Assessment and Research (BEAR) Center, the only BACB approved continuing education provider in the UP, hosted its first annual conference in November of 2020. The conference provided opportunities to regional practitioners to gain CEU’s required to maintain BACB credentials and to regional agencies to have promoted their services and recruited new practitioners. The conference included workshops and trainings that specifically targeted professionals from related fields as well as parents, caretakers, and stakeholders.

To have completed this mission, the BEAR Center received a grant from the Superior Health Foundation.
